Rogaining Tasmania Inc.

Entries for Rogaining Tasmania's first event for 2015 have now closed.

Event results can be downloaded here, with a full event write up here.

The event was held in the Sandford area south-east of Hobart between Lauderdale and the South Arm Neck. The map will extend from Ralphs Bay in the west to Frederick Henry Bay in the east. A feature is the extensive Tangara Trail network.

The event was held on March 1

Participants can compete either on bike or on foot, with the choice of either four or two hour events. This Rogaine is a Team event for two to five people where participants devise their own route to visit as many controls on the map and thus collect as many points as possible in the time available.

Teams need to be fully self sufficient with food and drinks, and carry first aid gear. Because of extensive private property, Sandford offers limited route choice, especially for walkers, and thus walkers are encouraged to give the bike a go. Riders may only ride on formed roads, tracks and paths, whilst walkers can go wherever access is legitimate. Roads available to traverse include South Arm Highway, Rifle Range Road, Gellibrand Drive and Dorans Road where safe practices are important. If you like mountain bike riding or extended walks, the event offers a different way for you to enjoy being out and about.

Assembly, start and finish are at the Sandford Hall on the South Arm Highway, 3.4kms south of the canal at Lauderdale. Start of the four hour is 10.30am - maps available 9.00am - and start of the two hour is 12noon - maps available 10.45am. Finish for the two hour is 2.00pm and finish for the four hour is 2.30pm. Light refreshments will be provided at assembly from about 1.30pm, with presentations at around 3.00pm.

Each control features a question to be answered from the multiple choices on the answer sheet. Controls have different point values between 10 and 90. Devising a route that is within the capabilities of the Team while maximising points collection is part of the challenge.

Entries open on 26/1/15 and close at midnight on Wednesday 25/2/15 and can only be submitted and paid for through the online Entryhub system.

Cost is $35 per person, or $25 per person for a full time student aged 25 years or under, and includes the light refreshments afterwards. There are no late entries nor enter-on-the-day for this event. Enquiries may be directed to Mark Hey at or on 6272 7233.
